Just keep strumming
When I first learned to play the guitar I would start to play a song, then stop, change to the next chord, then stop, change to the next chord and on it went. Excruciating for me and especially my teacher. In one of my early lessons he said, “Just keep strumming. You’ll become proficient a whole lot quicker.” And he was right.
When I was learning to dance, I’d make a mistake, stop, then start again. My dance teacher encouraged me to keep moving through the missteps as it would speed up my progress. She was right.
I was coaching a guy in sales who was new to the profession. I told him to keep meeting with people and keep applying the techniques I was providing even if it wasn’t perfect, even if he made mistakes. He followed as instructed and sold a few million dollars worth of product within the six month term of our work together.
Whatever area you want to learn, master, or simply get completed, it may not sound good, look good, or feel good at the start, but the more you keep moving, the faster the progress and the greater the proficiency will be.
Just keep strumming.
